College Math Tutor, Economics Tutor, Engineering Tutor – When no one else can, Newcastle will…

Survey says…

Earlier this week we wrote about the high rate of attrition from math, science and engineering majors at colleges around the United States. Now the newly released 2011 National Survey of Student Engagement, which surveyed over 400,000 students at 700 colleges about their work and study habits, has confirmed and quantified a reason we already knew: engineers spend the most time studying compared to other majors, nearly 33% more than the average student.

The survey results indicate that students generally do not apply new study strategies during their time in college. The problem with this, of course, is that without the ability to integrate new, highly effective learning techniques, students can find it harder and harder to manage classes that increase in workload and complexity over the course of a college career. You expect to know more information when you graduate; shouldn’t you also know more about how to learn information thoroughly and efficiently?

That’s where we come in. Newcastle Tutors‘ Ivy League experts know that the most successful students never stop learning how to learn. And now students of any major can work one-on-one with our coaches to maximize the effectiveness of their study time. In the next blog post, we’ll talk about a few study techniques that can help any student improve, whether you’re studying for an organic chemistry final or the SAT.
