Due to the enormous growth by the tutoring industry, some for-profit tutoring services are now represented by the Education Industry Association, a lobbying arm that pushes for legislation to make tutoring more affordable and accessible.
Bills are pending in the House of Representatives to allow families to pay for tutoring with pre-tax dollars from their Flexible Spending Accounts. This can theoretically result in savings of more than 30% for up to $5,000/year per family.
