College Math Tutor, Economics Tutor, Engineering Tutor – When no one else can, Newcastle will…

Don’t Let Your Brain Take A Vacation

Summer is here. While your schedule may be more lax, your mind shouldn’t be.

University of Missouri-Columbia psychology professor, Dr. Harris Cooper, gives a good reason for students to keep last year’s notebooks open this summer. His study shows that students lose one to three months worth of learning over summer break. The study also found that “the negative effect of summer did increase with increases in students’ grade level”.

College students need to make sure they don’t fall victim to “the summer slide” and lose the knowledge they gained during the semester by reviewing notes, doing problems, and keeping skills fresh during the summer months.

“With fact and procedure-based knowledge more easily forgotten than conceptual knowledge,” according to the study, students should especially review their math courses and other courses that require a lot of memorization of facts or equations.

Newcastle Tutors are available for college online tutoring throughout the summer to go over the important information you don’t want to forget and to make sure you’re thoroughly prepared for next year. Contact us today to start reviewing!
