Online tutoring – not new, but certainly improved
‘Distance education,’ or that of learning outside of a classroom by means of technology, has been around for many years, serving as an alternative to face-to-face learning. As early as 2000, studies showed telecommunicated education to be just as effective as learning in a classroom. The difference between then and now however, is the advent of two-way online learning, as opposed to one-way practice problems often taught by a computer program.
Whereas distance education was once considered an equal substitute, it is now, in fact, often viewed as a superior alternative. Upcoming blog posts will focus on the specific innovations in online education that have allowed it to surpass its archaic predecessor in terms of effectiveness.
