College Math Tutor, Economics Tutor, Engineering Tutor – When no one else can, Newcastle will…
Last week a new proof was posted on one of the world’s grandest mathematical problems. Vinay Deolalikar proposed a solution to the “P vs. NP” situation – where P represents a set of problems that can be easily solved, and Not P is a set of problems that are hard to solve, but easy to check once the answer has been found. A $1 million cash prize is awarded to the solver of this quandary, one of the Clay Mathematics Institute’s seven “Millenium Problems.”
Today, cryptography is based on the assumption that P does not equal NP. That is, that computers cannot solve certain problems, but the answers are easily recognizable. If these problems were demonstrated to be solvable, electronic commerce would be undermined, along with online privacy.
Your math class may not be dealing with problems that require such extensive proofs, but difficulties abound in higher level math. Call upon a college math tutor to help you.
Mr. Deolalikar’s proof has generated such waves of criticism largely because of the internet. In the same way you can draw on college online tutoring, wikis and blogs have been set up to assess the accuracy of Deolalikar’s logic. This allows for streamlined tutoring, erasing the physical distance between you and your college math tutor. So if you need a college math tutor, get in touch with college online tutoring today.
